When your wife is 5'11" and you have a car seat in the back, priorities change to larger cars. However, I couldn’t shake the desire to have something that I wanted to drive and would want to walk up to daily.
Safety, comfort, fun. It checked all those boxes and so far I’m super happy with the decision.

I also upgraded car sizes due to an impending baby seat.
Nice car, for sure! I love that color.

At 6'5" legroom is my#1 issue. I am amazed how many cuvs have crap legroom. Large sedans seem to be much better, but that may just be in my head.

I’ve noticed this too. CUV’s seem to go for the short-wheelbase high roof upright sitting position, but a longer wheelbase sedan gives more room to recline. They also focus more on moving people than pretending they’re good at hauling cargo.

Congrats! Nice color too.

We picked up a cheap trailblazer while the kids are in car seats. We have about 2 more years of that compromise, then it’s back to looking for a roomy sedan.

It is indeed.

For sure. I’ve only spent about 30 minutes in the drivers seat.
I’ll definitely be sharing my experience.

My parents have an Envoy XL. Frankly I don’t much care for it, but it’s not too bad at hauling Jeeps around. My mom wanted it because she thought it would be great for hauling around my sister’s kids, still in car seats. But I’m pretty sure my parents would also be more comfortable with a larger sedan.

I’ve only seen one of the refreshed cars in person but I gotta say, it was a headturner. Seemed like a nice blend of Audi and Aston Martin styling.

my buddy was in a similar predicament, new baby and his e46 wasn’t cutting it (being a coupe and all) I convinced him his 35k would be best spent on one of these:

He’s not even remotely upset

I had a few odd qualifications for my new car, one being an overall length of less than 192" - which I learned eliminates a LOT of desireable cars.
But I live in Michigan, so no way would I consider a car that didn’t fit in my garage.

We got a CX-5 last year thinking it’d be good with a baby.
It does manage cargo and people well, has great driving dynamics, but it’s laughable how far forward the front seat needs to go to accommodate a car seat.

Nice! My DD is a 2013. It has been great and for the most part, trouble-free. Looking forward to your writeup on the new version.

I was wildly impressed by the interior of these when I sat in one.
